About this opportunity

The Environment Agency Anglian Waterways Team is currently looking for volunteers to assist boaters at the locks at Houghton, St Ives, Godmanchester, Eaton Socon and at Northampton Marina.

Representing the Anglian Waterways Team, volunteers assist boaters with locking at weekends (River Ouse locks), perform basic site maintenance (Northampton Marina) and support the Environment Agency at events. Tasks will be varied, rewarding and offer opportunities to learn new skills and meet people. Boating experience is not necessary, but volunteers must be confident to be around water and will be given appropriate training, a uniform and an ID badge.

“We meet so many interesting people, 99.99% of which are really appreciative of our help. Then again, who wouldn't enjoy being outdoors and near water?” – St Ives lock volunteer
